The meaning of the orchestra as a cultural body of SUN

the cultural body of SUN (Silk-road Universities Network), with its diverse members comprising students majoring in music and playing a wide variety of instruments in perfect harmony and beauty, profoundly captures Silkroadia-the Silk Road spirit.

Silk-road Universities Network (SUN) was established August, 2015 jointly by representatives from 50 Universities and Research Institutions from 22 countries along the land and sea Silk Road. We believe that the coming together of universities can help realize this vision through fostering an exchange of ideas culminating into decisive action between intellectuals transcending national, religious and cultural boundaries. In addition, universities through educating and training the youth can create future leaders better equipped to promote peace and harmony in line with Silkroadia.

During the Inaugural General Assembly of SUN, the Philharmonic Orchestra named ‘Silkroadia’ was established as a cultural body of SUN. The orchestra is composed of diverse student majoring in music and playing a wide variety of instruments in perfect harmony and beauty, profoundly captures Silkroadia-the Silk Road spirit. And through 「Silkroadia Philharmonic Orchestra」, we would like to extend our best wishes that recognizing and acknowledging that individual differences are reason for celebration rather than segregation and that diversity is beauty as a source of strength and vitality for human flourishing.

The orchestra aims to extend its scope to an international scale by delivering powerful messages of peace and hope to the world.
