In past, people wore clothes to protect themselves from cold or warm weather or to cover themselves. It is true that throughout time, human costumes have changed a lot in many ways including designs, colors, prices, etc. However, human clothes have significant meaning beyond those factors.  As we know, clothes represent our various cultures and our identity. Moreover, over time people have used their clothes to convey unspoken messages such as their social status, and roles. Among many traditional dresses, hanbok, the Korean traditional dress has been caught global attention with the popularity of K-Wave (Korean dramas and Korean music). The word hanbok has the simple meaning of ‘Korean clothes’ which has been using not only in formal forms but also in informal ways.

Juhyung Lee, a student of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, has written an interesting article about this unique dress for the SILKROADIA VOL.2 NO.1. Please check her article for detailed information which is available in our publication section.
