Music of the Silk Roads
In 2019, the Secretariat of the United Students of the Silk Road Universities Network (USSUN) located in Allameh Tabataba’i University Teheran, Iran organized a program called ‘Tune in to the Silk Roads’ aiming at sharing the uniqueness of traditional music instruments and the music along with the Silk Road countries. This was held as an Instagram live event bringing various artists together from different countries. USSUN conducted this as a series of live concerts to provide many opportunities for each USSUN branch in the member universities. As a result of this, they were able to introduce musical instruments from Iran, Japan, Afghanistan, the Republic of Korea, India, Romania and etc. Following the example of the USSUN secretariat, this year USSUN branch at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in Seoul, Republic of Korea organized an exhibition under the theme ‘Music along the Silk – Roads’ introducing various songs from Silk Roads countries. USSUN-HUFS said that selected the songs that have focused on ‘peace’ and ‘harmony’. In fact, we may not understand others languages. However, we do not need to speak other languages in order to understand songs. It is simply because music considers as the universal language. It brings people together. It encourages us to cooperate to create a peaceful world for all of us.
